Marbella

Our flight from Barcelona left pretty early so we had the whole day in front of us. We flew into the Malaga airport, rented a car and drove about 2 hours to the Alhambra, close to Granada. So...we weren't all that impressed with the Alhambra. We were told that we HAD to go, so we did, and it wasn't all that great. In all fairness though we were only able to tour the grounds. Because of a lack of planning on our part we weren't able to go in. I don't know, maybe it would have been worth it if we had?!
Nathan and I at the Alhambra
Megs and I. Don't get me wrong, the grounds were quite beautiful, just probably not worth the drive.
A false depiction of our feelings on the Alhambra
We got some girls from San Francisco CA(!) to take this picture for us. What are the chances?
We only paid for one audio guide so Harv played tour guide for the rest of us while he listened.

Walking back to the car... a more accurate depiction of our feelings on the Alhambra.

That night, despite having gone to a soccer game the night before, Megs and I were good sports and agreed to go to a restaurant to watch the Madrid vs Barcelona game on TV. Apparently it is a big deal.
It was all worth it though because the food was awesome!

The next day we headed to the beach and the pool at our hotel.
The boys played on the beach for a while but right after taking some pictures Meg and I headed to the pool.
We spent the morning and a good part of the afternoon here. It was fantastic.

After we had had our fill of the sunshine we got dressed and headed into old town Marbella.
It was the cutest little town with lots of small streets and little shops.

They even had an old castle up on the hill.
A lot of the houses were growing flowers on them, so cute!
We stopped at a little place and got some churros and hot chocolate to share. That hot chocolate was THICK. Apparently the thing to do is dip the churro in the hot chocolate....it was a good thing to do.
I won't take the time to explain this here, just thought it was interesting. Same logo and everything!
We found a restaurant in Marbella to eat at that night. The pasta Nathan ordered literally changed his life it was so good. (oh, and ignore the napkin on his neck, we were experimenting.)
After dinner we had a little fun with the water bottles they gave us. I think the people next to us were a little bugged.

The next day we headed into downtown Malaga to go to the Picasso Museum since we weren't able to go to the one in Barcelona. It was a small museum but that was just fine by us. We saw some of the more famous paintings and were completely satisfied.

The inside of the museum was very pretty.

Once we were done at the Museum we got some lunch and then had to head for the train station to catch our train to Madrid.
Downtown Malaga
Me with the lovely rental car before returning it.
We got to the train station super early and had some time to kill. So the boys went bowling and Megs and I went shopping.
Us on the train ready for Madrid!

I'm jealous you went to Malaga! That's where my cousin Matt served his mission and I've always wanted to go. Such a beautiful country!
